To provide assistance to the scheduled caste & schedule tribe student, the State Government of West Bengal started Sikshashree Scholarship scheme for students. Under this scheme, the government has provided the scholarship to the scheduled castes (SC) and scheduled tribes (ST) students studying in Class V to VIII in West Bengal. The scheme aims to encourage SC &ST community students to go schools and reduce school dropout ratio in West Bengal. This scheme will provide better opportunities for increasing their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability and empowerment through education and increase of the socio-economic conditions of the backward class community. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to improve their participation in Pre-metric stages and minimize the incidence of drop-out. This scheme helps SC/ST students to come into the mainstream and to live a good life by educating themselves

Benefits of Sikshashree Scholarship Scheme:

Government provide SC/ST students studying in class Class V to VIII
Class V: government provides a scholarship of Rs. 500/- per annum to the students studying in class V
Class VI: government provide a scholarship of Rs. 650/- per annum to the students studying in class v
Class VII: government provide a scholarship of Rs. 700/- per annum to the students studying in class VII
Class VIII: government provide a scholarship of Rs. 800/- per annum to the students studying in class VIII

Eligibility for Sikshashree Scholarship Scheme:

Applicant should be resident of West Bengal state
Student should belong to scheduled castes (SC) and scheduled tribes (ST) community
Students studying in class 5^th to class 8^th are eligible for this scheme
Annual family income of the student should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakhs.
